Characteristics
Tn7712 is a 15017bp transposon, flanked by inverted repeats of insertion sequence ISkpn19. This transposon confers beta-lactam resistance via blakpc-2. The blaKPC-2 gene was located in an ISKpn19-orf1-orf2-Tn3-ISKpn27-blaKPC-2-ISKpn6-orf2-orf1-ISKpn19 structure.

Characteristics
Tn7714 is a 22.6 Kb transposon that is a Tn21 and Tn1721 hybrid. Tn7714 contains the resolution site, tnpR, tpnA, tetR, tetA (tetracycline resistance), and delta-tnpA from Tn1721 (99% identical). The mercury resistance operon (merR, merT, merP, merC, merA, merD, and merE), urf2, intI1, and tnpM are from Tn21 (99-100% identical). The intI1 integron carries the trimethoprim resistance gene dfrA5. An IS26 composite transposon between the mercury resistance operon and the intI1 integron carries resistance genes for aminoglycosides (strB, strA) and sulfamethoxazole (sul2). Tn7714 was found in an IncF plasmid (NZ_CP107285.1) from an Escherichia coli (GCA_025808215.1) isolated from a Baton Rouge, Louisiana lake. During a conjugation experiment, Tn7714 moved from the IncF plasmid into a cryptic IncX plasmid, creating a new multidrug resistance IncX plasmid (NZ_CP110861.1).
