Tn6248 is 26-kb Tn5397-like conjugative transposon isolated from Enterococcus faecium strain E506. It was similar to Tn6247, which carried tet(M) tet(L) and tnpX, but Tn6248 also carried tnpA (IS110-family transposase) and cat gene, conferring chloramphenicol resistance.

Tb6249 is a 26-kb Tn6162-derived transposon found in Pseudomonas aeruginosa strain VR-143/97. It carried two ISPa7 elements, an In70.2 integron platform (associated with a defective Tn402-like transposon inserted into the urf2 gene of a Tn3 family transposon of Tn6162), a partially deleted mer operon and an In90 integron platform. Several resistance genes were found as part of the In70.2 and In90 integrons including blaVIM-1, aacA4, aphA15, aadA1, sul1 in In70.2, and sul1 catB10, aacA4 in In90.

It contained remnants of the tniR to that of Tn402/Tn5090 and remnants of the tniA gene identical to that of Tn5053, separated by an IS26. It also carried blaOXA372 gene, conferring resistance to penicillins, including temocillin, and reduced susceptibility to carbapenems.
